About Steve

steve burns as a young photographerMy early career behind the camera began in this illustration for American Magazine by my father Paul C. Burns, an illustrator at the time.

In that illustration as a young child, I was photographing my younger brother. Only the camera was a toy trolley car with a spool of thread attached to it as a lens.  It was years later that I inherited the actual camera that Mr. McKinnon, our neighbor was using.

Currently an award winning location photographer I have  over 30 years of experience behind real  cameras. What brought me to photography is a desire to communicate visually, a keen interest in people as well as the processes and environments of the real world surrounding us.

Clients have commented on my work as both strong and graphic, expressing admiration as to the flexibility and versatility I use when solving their visual problems. I’m known for my easygoing manner when working with people.  I draw upon knowledge gathered from varied experiences through the years.   I take pride in creative solutions to visual problems founded upon client photographer collaborations.

Photographer client collaborations have included projects for: ADP, AT&T, Bell Atlantic, Chase Bank, Forest Labs, Ford, IBM, KPMG Peat Marwick, Lucent, Medical Economics, Neuberger & Berman, Nautica International, The United States Department of Justice, ASIS, Western World Insurance Group as well as many others.

I’m a member of ASMP, and a co founder, charter member and former Vice President of the New Jersey Chapter of the organization.

While working from the New York City metropolitan area, I’m available for assignments anywhere client needs may require.

If you have a project that you would like to discuss, please contact me directly via the contact page,  the email link in the footer on any page, or by phone.
